Sorry, it’s not a video. But when we had recently a very cold periode in the February winter, I had the chance to walk around a lake in the Harz mountains area in Thuringia.
It has been minus 10 degrees and less every night for a while, so the lake got frozen and had a more than 10 cm strong ice cap.
While the surrounding was absolutely silent, the water and/or the ice cap were moving, as a result to the sun and the wind.
So from time to time you were able to listen to a strange sound coming from the deepest and coldest inside of the lake. It was something like a huge piece of wood scratching from the inside of the lake to the ice cap. Scary!
Have you ever been to a frozen lake and recognized this kind of sounds?
