The master of wisdom Ben Sirach compares wisdom to a hidden treasure: "My children, do as I teach you and live in peace. Wisdom that is not expressed is like a treasure that has been hidden.", Sirach 41:14. We see something similar when Jesus describes the Kingdom of God: "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.", Matthew 13:44.
Spiritual gifts and in particular wisdom, are hidden treasures because gifts are virtues infused in the heart of man. This is why Jesus describes the Kingdom of God with parables and riddles. But also wisdom is a treasure, because wisdom allows us to make decisions with precision and accuracy: "How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!", Proverbs 16:16.
A common mistake that many interpreters of the Bible make is to use Greek concepts such as justice to interpret the thoughts of Jesus, justice is not a spiritual gift, it is a virtue that is acquired through practice. The concept of Justice does not belong to the doctrine of the Kingdom of God.
The Kingdom of Heaven is the government of wisdom, the empire of mercy, the domain of perseverance. The reign of God's perfections: "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect", Matthew 5:48.
Wisdom is a superior spiritual gift: "Now eagerly desire the greater gifts", 1 Corinthians 12:31. Wisdom is the gift that makes us fully similar to God. Although the Bible in numerous passages explains that man is created in the image and likeness of God, these explanations are metaphors, man resembles God, like whitish to white: "When God created us, he did not intend for us to die; he made us like himself.", Wisdom 2:23; and "When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God.", Genesis 5:1.
