Wise words: Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12

Hope is the spiritual food of the human being, and it has to do with our expectations about the future. Hope is joy, optimism, and desire to live.
In Christian theology, hope is defined as the security of receiving eternal life, and this life that cannot be lost and so is therefore eternal, is to see the world with the eyes of God through contemplative activity. Hope is ultimately the spiritual engine of the human soul. And the Bible teaches us that hope is closely related to wisdom, righteousness (golden rule), and the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion): "Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you" Proverbs 4:6.
But just as there are people who are hopeful of life, there are also oppressed and hopeless people in the world, the difference between having hope and being a person who does not expect anything good from existence is the difference between life and death, as explained the Book of Proverbs with wise words: "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life" Proverbs 13:12. And this is not unrelated to what happens in today's world, we see this in migrants from poor countries who seek refuge in more developed countries in search of work and life prospects.
As the Bible teaches us, man cannot live without hope; and the book of proverbs tells us about this, that hopelessness drives even the sanest person crazy: "Surely oppression destroys a wise man's reason" Ecclesiastes 7:7.
Instead when we fulfill our desires that becomes a tree of life. The tree of life has a special meaning in the Bible, this tree was planted in paradise together with the tree of discernment. The tree of life is related to the perfection of human life on earth, we can interpret the tree of life in the Book of Proverbs as longevity, and immortality.
