The parable of the unjust steward in Luke 16:1-8, is a parable that explains to us why God allows evil. God allows evil because good can arise from evil. The servant is fired by his master, and the servant to assure his future acts with mercy towards the debtors. Sometimes when the need is great we are good by force or by the situation.
We all have the capacity to do good and earn eternal life, that is the fundamental message of the parable. Sometimes we just need a push to bring out the best in us.

For the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of the light, Luke 16,8. Exegesis.jpg

The parable is narrated in this way:
Jesus told his disciples: "There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions. So he called him in and asked him, ´What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.´
The manager said to himself, ´What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I´m not strong enough to dig, and I´m ashamed to beg - I know what I ´ll do so that, when I lose my job here, people wil welcome me into their houses.´
So he called in each one of his master´s debtors. He asked the first, ´How much do you owe my master?´
´Nine hundred gallons of olive oil´, he replied.
The manager told him, ´Take you bill, sit down quickly, and make it four hundred and fifty.´
Then asked the second, ´And how much do you owe?´
´A thousand bushels of wheat, he replied.
He told him, ´Take you bill and make it eight hundred´
The master commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of the light"
In this parable, God is the rich man who congratulates the unjust steward for having acted wisely. God in his own wisdom, is good to everyone even to cunning men who know how to act wisely. We all have a ranking of mercy, wisdom, and perseverance and at the end of our lives we are judged by this ranking. God rewards the good and the bad for their wisdom to live.
