Here we are...in Witch City, Salem Massachusetts after a four day hitch hiking journey and a small train ride. Rain Drop and I found ourselves in good company in midst of the dark and gothic streets of the historical town. I didn't get to spend very long in Salem because of the prices and expensive food and beverages but I would like to come back in the near future.
The scenery is filled with wicked statues and sculptures along the shop fronts and galleries that are on every corner as you follow the red blaze on the sidewalk through the downtown district.
Many of the shops have beautiful art work for viewing and to sale. The esoteric shopping here is actually a little more affordable than I expected after paying 8.00 for a hotdog. I found a fair price for smudge sticks and stones in several of the shops.
The museums here are a bit more costly than I think they should be... and everything inside is easy to see on the History Channel for free.
Visiting the galleries are mostly free I believe, but I didn't go into all of them. The art is amazing here in Salem and even just setting in the park for free has an spooky experience on display for every tourist that passes through.
Even if you don't believe in witches and goblins, Salem Massachusetts is still a site worth paying a visit to at least once. I'm hoping to be able to make my way back here soon.... possibly Halloween.
Its hard not to let the spooky town steal your entire day from doing anything else as so many things are there to catch your eyes and draw you in. I found myself going in every single shop that I was walking past at many times.
I especially enjoyed the fortune telling shops and the many tarot card and palm reading specialist that make there living here in Salem. I'm impressed with how much authenticity that almost every store owner works hard for.
Thank you.
Don't forget that me and Rain Drop Hound Dog always need donations to continue our adventure....
