The Reports from the Witnesses 2017-07-02

in witness-category •  8 years ago  (edited)

The Reports from the Witnesses aims to provide the community with a summary of what all the witnesses have been up to. Every week, I collect all of the reports from the individual witnesses and assemble them into a single aggregated report. New witness announcements and witness retirement announcements are included in the report as well.

Witnesses can continue posting their posts to the witness-category and/or witness-update tags, and I will assemble everything I find there. If I miss any reports, just let me know and I will correct it. If you want to direct message me a report via chat, that is fine too.

Historic Reports from the Witnesses can be found here:

So without further ado, I bring you the twenty ninth edition of 'Reports from the Witnesses'!

Some Notes:

  • Many witnesses do not report every week, and prefer to only report when they have updates.
  • I recommend that you include communication as one of your criteria for evaluating witnesses, but keep in mind - it is not the only criteria. There are some witnesses that prefer to work "behind the scenes", and do not do much as far as reports.
  • For witnesses that are not currently posting any reports, I would encourage you to provide the community with at least some insight into what you are currently working on :)

What does being a Witness refer to here on Steemit?

The witnesses are the elected leaders of the community, and the ones that run the blockchain. Every time users post, comment, vote, etc - all of that gets processed by the witnesses. You can read more about it in this post.

Busy bees they must be!

Hey, thanks for the new witness announcement!

Please show some support for my witness, "tyler-fletcher" :)

Thanks Tim for your hardwork in sending out report to steem users. It take due diligents and commitment to represent STEEMIT as witnesses. Thumbs up to all active witnesses.

Is there a resource that lists the witnesses that don't post reports? Knowing who doesn't communicate with the community could be beneficial for the steemians voting on witnesses.

The Steemit witness page lists the top 50 witnesses, so you can compare the list with the ones you see doing a report. Keep in mind that some witnesses only do periodic reports, so just because you don't see them in today's "reports of the witnesses" post doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't doing reports.

Thank you for proving all this information in one area. Saves me a time when needing to do research.

Very good work

great steemit post

Thank you for your report. Nice! :)

Thank you for all the effort the witnesses have been made!

Hi @timcliff,

I voted for your witness. Can I be your 30th vote?
I really appreciate if you can vote for my witness.

Hi @pouyan. I appreciate the witness vote. Sorry, but I don't do vote for vote. I choose who I vote on based on their contributions to the community. I read all the witness update posts, so if you share what you are doing with your witness campaign, I will be sure to read it.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I will share with you.

BTW do you know any document that I can learn more on how to contribute more to the community? I really do want your 30th vote and ready to learn anything.
Thanks,

There isn't really a document. Everyone finds their own ways to add value. The question to ask yourself is what things can you do that will make the community/platform better?

Thanks, i will find my way for sure. My journey has just begun. FYI i am a software developer with more than 20 years of experience who is leading a big corporarion now. I will be in touch with you in case i hvae question. Again thx for your reply. I really appreciate that.

If you are a software developer, there are lots of routes you can go. A lot of the witnesses have written various tools that the community can use (steemdb.com for example). Another route would be to actually work on changes for the Steem blockchain or condenser (Steemit.com). Both are open source GitHub projects.

Thanks a lot for all your help. Hope I can contribute to the project.

Hi there, I have a new recruit who join steemit 2 days ago and her account is still on pending approval. Her nickname is "cheekychewy". She's a wife of a city councilor and has a possibility of bring in more users from their area.

Account approvals have been a bit delayed because of the holiday. Hopefully it should get approved soon. If it gets to be more than a week let me know and I can help look into it.

If she can't wait, you have the option to create an account for her with SteemConnect. It just costs the 6 STEEM account creation fee.

Congratulations @timcliff! You have completed some achievement on Steemit and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :
