The last couple of days steemit has been having issues with overload and DDOS attacks many nodes seem to be down.
When this happends I go to this nifty site to check on the status on the.

Steem Servers

Since I am running a witness server and I also run bellyrub both use steem's blockchain and servers I now think it is a time for @zeartul to set up a full blown Node server to help out with the load on steem and steemit.

In doing so it would take some load off and help with all functions I will be in contact with @someguy123 to get this up and running with in a weeks times.

The infrastructure of steem steemit needs more nodes if you have the resources I would suggest you set you up.

Side Note: You might have also noticed your drafts are not getting saved or even posted and your work is lost.

This is again due to the recent DDOS attacks and nodes failing. Make sure to save your work. another fast way to make sure your work is not deleted is You can also right click on the post tab, top right and click "open link in new tab" That would open up a copy of your post, just in case the one you submitted did not post. you can than try again.

@timcliff Made a post yesterday - Attention Steemains - Save your posts before clicking the submit button! Go read it.

Server Specs Needed for a RPC Node

CPU 6 core/12 thread Xeon
RAM 256GB DDR4 ECC
Disk 2x500GB SSDs
Network 1gbit/s from Germany

If you would love to help put steem and steem to help it run more smoothly go on ahead and vote for my witness @zeartul by going here https://steemd.com/witnesses

You can also help by sending donations, to help out with the set up server costs, since at the moment it will be straight out of pocket. with being witness # 73

I think we at least deserve some official explanation from our headquarters.

That would be a great start but it seems it is not a priority for headquarters.

I've been hoping we'd get an update from Steemit HQ myself. So far, I only saw a very short post when the DDOS'ing first started occuring on @steemitblog. There seem to be a lot of quirks in the system right now.

I wonder, is it someone with a vendetta against up and coming social media? Some of the mega-elite with huge amounts of resources to devote to constantly attacking the site? Somebody is afraid of Steemit's competitive advantage and potential dominance of social media.

When the service is in beta is actually a great time for it to happen, but the fact of the matter is we need a huge amount of resources to have the musclepower that the industry giants have at their disposal.

I wonder if the DDOS attacks are a form of market manipulation / someone trying to get into STEEM at a low price.

Perhaps so @yabapmatt...

@oldtimer
Maybe witnesses act on behalf of headquarters...remember this is decentralized block chain ...maybe we all.own our space... Nice comment though

Thank you! I am going to vote for you for witness! This should not all have to come out of your pocket.

What's the main reason behind this DDOS attack, isn't there any way to be protected with such attacks??

My intuition tells me Facebook/ Twitter/ Google or companies with massive resources are funding this constant onslaught. It's too continuous and powerful to be run by isolated individuals. I might be wrong though.

@katteasis
Good question...usually financial institutions and now block chain companies usually face such maybe due to disgruntled members who feel cut off... or competitors who wanna bring down the reputation of their opposition... many things can lead to such...I wrote two posts on DDoS and why it happens plus solution in two separate posts...check them out in my blog.

@zeartul I like your Proactive Attitude to do what you can to make STEEMIT an even better experience for all. Thank You for bringing to the forefront what can be done to help fix the current issues.

That's really helpful man... we need to keep beefing up the network as much as possible. What will it take to get to the point where no matter what, everything will be operational? Is it sheer number of fully functioning nodes? Or does it depend on the strength of the computing power of the network?

You are very right, there are some issues from last few days.

Thanks for the extra Steem support @zeartul

Now is a really important time for Steemit to look it's best as the introduction of SMT has put more eyes on the platform.

No doubt some of those eyes are evil ones.

Thanks again

Yeah...can't agree more @abh12345
Which is why I updated on DDoS and why we need offline mascot today ...also how block chain techs can defeat ddos due to their decentralized system...
How you steeming my friend...😋

Hi Ken

You know I was thinking of producing a blog on the same subject, with a slightly different perspective.

I've just skimmed it for now, to ensure my article (if I go ahead with it!) will not be too similar!

Steem on sir!

😁

Means we think alike @abh12345 I updated fresh one today...guess I beat you on another one again 🙌👏 take a look...

I'm not technical at all, but I knew this was the answer "due to the recent DDOS attacks and nodes failing" - they got in further and you guys need to clean it up - I know you can between all of you working together. That is the strength of the place.

I can't help at all but to try to not lose my stuff and keep posting and being a steemit cheerleader. So far, I'm doing good on all the copy strategies and praying for you guys to have success.

They hate us for our freedoms. Don't give up.

Does making a loan to @bellyrubbank help? Just sent most all my sbd there today.

Thank you for doing what you can to help make Steem all it can be @zeartul. I know it's not much but I'm going to send you 1 SBD to help diffuse the cost of the node setup. Hopefully others will chip in.

Noticed some glitches lately as well... thanks for the post. Been looking around trying to figure out what's the cause. Several of the new folks I talked into signing up have been asking me about it so I can at least point them in this direction. Thanks.

Good call opening a second post window, I lost a whole morning typing last week because I didn't save my work :-(
I usually copy and paste the whole body to a text file now, Now I'm happy to have another option.
Thanks

Thanks Jon,
As you know I was one of the many having trouble posting. Thanks for the help.
Appreciate you looking out for us all.

Great guy @zeartul
Excellent info on what's going on...little wonder I updated a post on similar issue today...
I use bellyrub but sometimes there is delay in upvote...is there any improvement in upvote time and what's the best time in GMT to use the bot...
How does private node work and what's it all about...need more info on this the @zeartul style 😎 voted for my best witness...tks for all you doing for us here in steemit...
