#WIWLTKI Episode 1: Where Did Bras Come From?

in wiwltki •  8 years ago

I recently decided to start a series of posts around #WIWLTKI (What I Would Like to Know Is): https://steemit.com/wiwltki/@simplysara/wiwltki-what-i-would-like-to-know-is#@merej99/re-simplysara-wiwltki-what-i-would-like-to-know-is-20170206t005917352z

Today's episode is all about our first topic: Bras.Mind have been driving me nuts lately. The straps keep falling down while I'm trying to work. I mostly cut men's hair, so the act of constantly tanking my straps back into place gets a little embarrassing.

My research turned up a bunch of boring facts such as when the term "brassiere" first appeared in Vogue magazine (1907 for anyone who cares). Another article told me was originated during the Roman Empire (snore). I couldn't get to the bottom of WHO or WHY the decision was made to create these annoying, uncomfortable contraptions in the first place.

What I did find was this cute clip with Bette Midler's take on this fashion staple:

I hope you enjoyed this edition of #WIWLTKI. Tune in next time where I attempt to find out how the artichoke landed on our plates.

I LOVE BETTE MIDLER

And Otto Titsling is one of my ultimate favorite songs...and nearly impossible to sing. I've tried! LOL
As for the pesky bra straps that keep falling down, love, it might be time to take new measurements. I have personally begun to wear sports bras which kind of flatten and smoosh me a little but the girls stay in place and my straps are comfortable. lol

I have switched to "front loaders" and the straps seem to stay put so far. I loved the others when I first got them. I think they've gotten stretched out despite my best attempts to card for them.

Oh, and here's a helpful link I found...
