This REALLY disturbed me.
What we are witnessing is something akin to China's cultural revolution. It is perverse intolerant subversive religion bent on indoctrination of the young in order to revolutionize society.
It is Orwellian. They talk of diversity when they mean uniformity of opinion; they talk of inclusiveness when their aim is to produce divisiveness - anger, resentment and grievous. And they talk of equity when they have no clue what it really means.
In the world of realpolitik a common threat is often a useful unifying device to bring together and mobilize support for various political goals - like a dictator wanting to stay in power.
No so for Covid. Though obviously appealing to power-hungry politicians, it has proved to be an incredibly divisive issue, galvanizing as much support against as for expansive government restrictions.
Case in point, the trucker disruptions in Ottawa. I certainly do not support their actions. But, the fact remains, the matter could be solved in a minute by summarily removing all covid restrictions and mandates. These restrictions and mandates, while unacceptably coercive and intrusive, have also been shown to be ineffective. Their presence now has more to do with politics than with science.
Beyond sad.
