Biological clock in women; Excuses or truth?

in woman •  7 years ago

The previous week I found myself in an interesting discussion with a fellow woman being in her late twenties.

I was really surprised to hear from this young woman, who still studies and is financially depended on her parents (remember: late twenties) that she wants to get pregnant by the end of the next year!

As I brought up the financially part of raising a child, I got a weird look from her. Then she started pointing out that she do adhere the "zero waste" mentality in her life ('cause capitalism is bad) and she will pass it to her child, so it won't cost her a lot to raise it up.

I was really confused at that moment. How can she possibly be so ignorant?

The discussion went on and she brought up the following; "Its really difficult for us women, to go back to work after we give birth (remember: she doesn’t work). Especially we, the scientist ."

My head was literally on fire. What the heck is going on inside her head?

I guess nothing. That's why she is so unworldly.

Even though I tried to explain her how things looks like in reality with simple practical examples, she was unable to follow my thoughts.

And here I am today, thinking about that biological clock, we women claim that we have. That one that obviously makes us reality-blind. That one that scares the shit out of us when it comes to loneliness and old age. That one that makes us create emotional slaves.

Take a look around you. Its possible that is even happening to your family.

Why do people do children ?

--Is it the passion to raise up a human?

--Is it the "must do", the society stacked into our minds?

--Is it the "normal" progression of a relationship?

Why did your parents make you ?

--Did they set the autopilot on you, when it came to their entertainment, feeling at the same time in advantageous position against people without children?

--Did they wish that you turn back to 3 years old, once your teenage years started?

--Are they proud for your success, but never want to be part of your failures?

Do I overthink or simply being conscious? In the end it doesn't matter, since I am gonna continue evolving, while she will continue not planning her life.
