Pregnancy is a rare moment in a woman's life. 9 months in a life is nothing. You should take advantage of this period to take care of yourself and your unborn baby.
And why not take advantage of these 9 months to take a new resolution? Say "God" to his addictions, which we tend to postpone until later? You know what I'm talking about?
Yes yes yes, I think of all those "vices" that we adopted one day for fun, to please others, to do like the others or to look "cool". I think of tobacco, alcohol and drugs. Personally, I don't drink, smoke or use drugs. But unfortunately, I know people in my entourage who have one of these addictions.
The most common and widespread addiction in my entourage is alcohol. Alcohol is the drink you find in every evening! It's hard to escape.
Most of my drinking friends aren't alcoholics, but I think when they get pregnant they won't be aware of the risks a glass of wine can pose to the fetus!
So I think it is important to make them aware of this risk, which may seem minimal to them, but it does not seem insurmountable.
Here are some tips on how to have a peaceful pregnancy and say no to alcohol, without a headache:
How can I say no to a small glass of wine, a cold beer or a fruity, full-bodied cocktail?
Already, as a good friend, don't offer to drink alcohol. It doesn't stop you from having a good time anyway! With a non-alcoholic cocktail, an alcohol-free beer, or even a non-alcoholic sparkling wine, the party will be as fun and crazy!
Personally, I'm able to spend good evenings without alcohol, it's enough that my friends are there, that there's a good atmosphere and good music and they don't hold me anymore... I'm an electric battery.
Inviting a pregnant friend to a party / dinner/ aperitif where alcohol flows freely is risky but not impossible. All you have to do is be THE good friend who will take care of her and serve her to drink and watch everything she is offered. So she can still have fun while drinking zero alcohol.
First 3 months of pregnancy: how to say no without being unmasked?
Zero alcohol during pregnancy, it is valid from the first 3 months. During this period, we especially don't want our entourage to know that we are pregnant... because we know the risks of miscarriage.
It is therefore even more important not to miss the mark! So how can we say no when we are offered a glass of wine without getting burned?
The most pertinent excuses are:"I'm on antibiotics","I have a headache","I'm on a diet","I drank too much yesterday"...
If your friend gives you this kind of excuse (now that you know feinting), DO NOT INSERT! Keep it a secret for yourself and talk about it with her after the party/dinner and so on.
To go further, here are some important information to know (source: public health France)
*** DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL**
Even a drop! The minimum amount of alcohol that is toxic to the baby is not known today.
It is therefore recommended that you do not drink alcohol at all during your pregnancy.
*** ALCOHOL PASSES INTO THE BABY' S BLOODSTREAM THROUGH THE PLACENTA**
Quickly, there is as much alcohol in baby's blood as there is in yours. So he's as alcoholic as you are.
*** ALL ALCOHOLS ARE DANGEROUS**
A standard glass of beer, whisky, wine, pastis contains the same amount of pure alcohol (about 10 grams), so they all present a danger to the baby!
*** ALCOHOL IS DANGEROUS FOR THE BABY**
It can:
- cause miscarriage or premature delivery;
- prevent the proper development of the baby's organs, such as: brain, heart, arm, legs, etc.
- result in mental or physical retardation and behavioural problems in children
MOST SERIOUS CONSEQUENCE: FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME (FAS)
This is the most serious consequence of alcohol consumption during pregnancy. This complication (although rare) leads to growth retardation, facial abnormalities, malformations and brain damage...
STOP ALCOHOL
