Bride-to-be Casey stood shaking at the altar in front of her family in front of her friends on what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, but instead, it was the beginning of the end for a 6-year relationship and everyone was going to bear witness.
Casey thought that her fiancé-to-be, Alex*, was the one, but as she wrote in her tell-all post on Whimn, the night before her wedding she received a text that changed everything. Surrounded by her bridal party, she was bombarded with a series of screenshots from an unknown number accompanied by a simple message that read, “I wouldn’t marry him. Will you?” The screenshots were a variety of lewd conversations between Alex and another woman, including selfies of the pair. The affair evidence ranged from months to only days before their planned union.
Crushed, she wondered how he could do this. Her loyal friends said she should call him and call off the wedding, but Casey was too shocked to make a decision. “Every word like a dagger in my heart and my wedding was only hours away. How could I cancel when everyone had already traveled to be there and everything was paid for?” The next day the scorned almost bride-to-be had made her decision – the wedding day would continue but with some slight changes.
“I walked down the aisle with leaden feet, my dream dress now just a costume. As he saw my face he knew this was not an ecstatic woman on her big day, but he had no idea what was coming,” and neither did anybody else in the crowd.
“There will be no wedding today,” announced Casey, “It seems Alex is not who I thought he was.” She pulled out her phone hiding beneath her bouquet and began to read:
“This weekend. You and I. It is on, hot stuff. Bring your A game.”
“Your body is fucking incredible. And shit do you know how to use it. I wish my GF had half the skills you do.”
“I miss you so much. I can’t stop thinking about L, S, F’ing you. I’ve never had this kind of connection before.”
The brave no longer bride stared at the colorless face of her ex-fiancé. Speechless, Alex stalked out of the church. Casey turned to speak to wedding audience: “I love all of you and as horrible as this is I’m glad you all are here. There will not be a wedding reception today, but instead, there will be a celebration of honesty, finding true love and following your heart even when it hurts.”
While nothing about this bride’s wedding day went as planned, as she tells it, it was still one hell of a party. (Facebook cover image: shutterstock / Sergii Sobolevskyi)
She is so brave.
