WOMEN IN THE SOCIETY

Women as the opposite sex of male are very important to the society. The modern society has recognised the importance of the role of women to national development for the fact that women possesses some abilities that men lacks.
Women assist the community in various ways, one most important is giving birth to the younger one; this process enables continuity of the society. As a mother is also her role to help the child develop his/her emotional and psychological aspect of life.
In this modern day most welfare programs are being carried out by the women
Despite the importance of women in the society, it is very surprising that women has their limitations in the society, this is mostly as a result of traditional or religious believe. Most cultures look down on women while men are seen as more superior. This is why in most African settings women depend mostly on their men for every thing they may need.
For example some cultures say that a woman needs to go through FGM to be tamed, so that she does not become sexually promiscuous : men are allowed to inherit their parents property while female is not or in some cases very little were given to a female child.
Religiously men are also a superior being compared to women; for the fact that a man was first created is enough to prove this . Ephesian 5:22 says wives are to be subject to their husbands. More also women are not allowed to take lead in the church likewise the Islamic believes.

But thanks to civilization, women are now allowed some certain things that were not allowed before. in the 1970's and 80s; women are not allowed to open a bank account, they not allowed to practice law i.e. serve as a lawyer in the court, attend military academy, become an astronaut, run the Boston marathon, smoke in public area ...... and many more. Looking at these some may seems odd and funny, but that just how it was then.

Despite the civilization and many programmes against discrimination again women, their are some things that women cant do up till now.
The aspect of women taking charge in religious program hasn't change, though some Christians allow women to lead the church but the higher population is still against it.
In Saudi Arabia their are some things women are still not allow to do which include ; Interact with men
Conversations and time spent with men who are not family members is limited, In public, restaurants, universities and other spaces have both a ‘family’ section and a section reserved for men.

Therefore there is need to help develop the class of women in our society, this can be achieved in the following ways

1. Stop child marriage and sexual harassment: This is one of the major factor affecting women class in the society, child marriage is a major impediment to girls’ education. If we want girls to be able to complete education we have to end child marriage and women harassment, as It is a major barrier to girls’ full participation in education.
2. Give proper value to ‘women’s work’ ; women and girls contribute to the economy so they deserve proper recognition and compensation.
3. Get women into power : There is need to introduce women in power especially political power. Many policies made by the government favours the men most because there is either few or no women present when such policies are being made.
4. Raise or Donate Money For cause That Promotes Gender Equality: Many women organizations lack financial support to carry out their activities. By donating to the cause we can help to develop the status of women in our society.
5. And lastly we should believe that women equality is possible, thought it may look difficult or impossible not because we cant achieve the cause but because of time to achieve such task. Lets just assume a world where their is no gender discrimination. What I think is unrealistic is to expect that we, as a global community, can have any sort of sustainable development or progress when half of our population continue to be discriminated against because of their gender, its time to put an end to that, and i believe together we can do it
