ENGLANDER WOOD STOVE FIBER BAFFLE BOARD REPAIR/REPLACE............

It was time to do a repair on my wood stove while I was waiting for my Oak flooring to come in.................
This is an Englander step top wood stove. This stove is one of the new generation high efficiency/clean burning wood stoves. Part of what makes this stove burn so clean is the ceramic baffle board.

Air is input through the stainless pipes, and this reignites the gases producing some very impressive flames, and a very clean burn!

There are ceramic boards, in two pieces, which normally last a long time until @silvertop gets ahold of them........
I get some very powerful Northeaster winds, that can produce strong down drafts.
@silvertop thought if I just trim the boards back this will help the high wind downdrafts.............. wrong.......... I made it worse!!!!!
So I had to buy two new replacement baffle boards, to put this stove back to 100% working condition.
Guys don't try that at home LOL!

This actually was a very easy repair. One 5/16 stainless steel sheetmetal screw held in the air tube. Then the tube just slipped out giving me enough room to replace the baffle boards!
You are probably wondering how well the air tubes hold up under high heat and flames. This is our primary heat for our home so this stove cooks at times, and the air tubes have not gotten damaged from direct contact with the heat and flames.
They tell me it's because of the constant flow of air in the tubes cooling them!
Honestly I was expecting them to bend over time, I even called Englander years ago to find out if they sold replacements for the air tubes, figuring they were expendable.
They told me some people had to replace the baffle boards, because they punched a hole in them with firewood, but they had never sold any replacement air tubes.

These are direct replacement baffle boards from Lynn Manufacturing Inc.
They are double boxed and marked with the packer's initials-a first rate replacement, at half the cost of the factory parts!

Now to fix those Northeaster downdrafts, I contacted the stove shop I bought my chimney from, and they told me there are high wind chimney caps that should help this problem.......

@silvertop just learned a new lesson.......... The hard way! LOL :)

Wouldn't it be better if the burner have a stove on top or just be a bear steel to cook food unto @silvertop?

Hi @cryptopie, we actually have cooked food on top of this stove. It has two levels, so the top is hotter and the bottom cooks slower and cooler. Its a nice stove, we got it about 7 years ago and we use only this stove to heat our house. We do have a new gas furnace that we never run....... but its still there just in case......so cooking food on top is really only if we have an emergency .
Buy the way, did you say what day your Birthday was? :)

I see, we do not have wood stove-heater here in my place because its a tropical country, only wood stoves which some people use for an emergency when their cooking gas runs out.

I will turn 41 in March 12th. @silvertop
The days go so fast and our lives here on earth are too short :/
I hope that someday I would never think about time anymore in heaven.

Happy birthday @cryptopie early 🎂🎉
Yes the time does go by so fast, so enjoy time with your parents and family. The older I get, the more I realize family is everything! 😊
Have a very good day @cryptopie!!!!

It looks like you do good work, interesting story!

Nice fire! Can I come sit by it? LOL!
