In this episode of Plane Talk, the wood of the day is Black Willow.
It can be a weed tree and very invasive ing the right growing conditions. Not quite as light weight as White Pine, it is stronger than white pine and yet not as hard and heavy as Tulip Poplar.
The can be easy to work or real nasty, all depends on how it grew.
And then the surprises of my family treasures as well as a pile of old Woodshop News publications. I'm a pack rat and 1992 was 25 years ago. Not even the mailing label on them is correct anymore.
I hope you found something helpful or at least entertaining.
