I am in between two plans and am looking forward to your advice!
My goal is to make a work/hobby place that is profitable. I mainly make natural tables with little precise measurement work. Now I have 2 plans:
Plan A:
I make the barn windproof and waterproof and keep it uninsulated in Poland. The space is roughly 100-120m2 and the (asbestos) roof starts at 3 meters up to a height of 5 meters. This is almost impossible to get warm in Poland. There is already a concrete floor ..
Advantages: I don't have to build a 2nd building,
Disadvantages 200 m2 wall must be made windproof, the roof must someday be replaced, insulation is not really an option and the shed has been there for 50 years.
Plan B:
This barn will be my rough workplace/storage space for large boards/logs and do not renovate anything. Behind the barn I build a straw bales workshop with natural wood. I can do this entirely myself and fairly cheaply.
Advantages: have more space, sit warm & dry and comfortable, have more natural light.
Disadvantages: A lot of work, 2 workshops means carrying wood, a year busy with building instead of making furniture.
Or a third optin: build a small isolated room (something like a cube) inside the big existing barn. And independent of the decision, remove as soon as possible the asbestos. Is carcinogenic and the weather and time is making it break in small pieces. You don't want to brief this fine dust ...

My husband was a certified asbestos remover and you definitely do NOT want to keep this old roof on. Building a warm cube inside is a good idea, if there's room.
