Step 2. The next stage is to decide which cutter to use in order to form the profile. For this job i am using two cutters and a saw bench. I prefer to use a router table over a spindle moulder.
Step 3. When i use multiple cutters to form a profile i need to think about the process very carefully. In some instances you could cause yourself many problems by not planning properly.
Step 4. Now that a process has been decided i set up the router table and make my first cut. I always like to use the sample to set up if possible. Always double check with the original.
Step 5. Then after i have completed the first run i set up the next cutter.
Once again i check with the original.
Step 6. Now that the two moulding had been applied i had to rip the remainder on my bench saw and then sand it to get the correct shape.
And there you have it. If you have any questions about woodwork, furniture or being self employed as a craftsperson let me know. I know my wood and i have spent years teaching myself furniture making , furniture history as well as living it as a self employed cabinet maker . Still i am learning every day and the journey is the point. Thanks for reading. @ jist
A step by step guide.
Hi fellow wood enthusiasts. I have been asked to produce 50 ft of custom skirting board for a client.
The client's house is dated around 1920 and they have just extended the kitchen. They want to keep the original detail, which is very commendable as these thing get lost otherwise, and are unable to get it ' off the shelf ' anywhere.
Here is the sample they provided.
I have always done this sort of work as most places will just match up to their nearest cutters.
I do not compromise and always reproduce exactly.
So i will run you through the process i use.
Step 1. First of all you will need to get the timber. In this case it is unsorted redwood (good quality pine) which i bought from a local timber yard already planed up.
If it was in oak or any other specialist hardwood i would machine it myself to ensure the correct dimensions and quality.
Hey, is it just me? All your pictures are not loading. Def want to see.

I know, right? I was posting on instagram up until they started shoveling the adverts. I really just wanted a way to show my projects off for family living out of town. We will have to build a woodworking community here. I wonder if there is away to make sub-steem, like a subreddit, beside the tags.

From what i can gather you can use anything as a tag but people may not ever see it. If we keep letting people know etc i think as steemit gets bigger woodworking will be a big section. Thanks
