This table was crafted from wood that we salvaged from a 147 year old train depot a few years ago. The trees that were cut down to build this train depot were probably 400 years old when they were harvested, making this wood over 500 years old more than likely.
Its crazy to think that only 2.5 years ago this wood was part of a deteriorating train depot. This table marks the last remnants of the Acworth, GA 1870’s train depot that we deconstructed. This structure was built after the original Acworth Train Depot and most of the downtown area were burned down during the Civil War. In the 1980’s it was decommissioned and sold. The new owner split it in half and moved it to an adjacent lot where it sat for 35 years.
We were honored to spend time in this once hustling hub where most of the cotton in Georgia went through before heading out to the rest of the country. And we are honored to save this part of history by sharing the structure’s story, and giving it an opportunity to live a new one.
Oh my Goodness!!!! That table is absolutely gorgeous!!!! 😍

That is one awsome story. Nice stain that you chose for the pine. Surprisingly it soaked in nicely. Great work

Thanks brother! We actually didn't use stain on this, it's just a urethane finish. The beautiful colors that you see are the patina of the wood that is brought out by the urethane finish. This is mother nature at her finest right here!
