Massive Chevron Barn Doors

in woodworking •  7 years ago

We hope everyone is having a nice weekend! Recently we wrapped up building these 5 massive chevron patterned doors before sending them off to be painted and framed in metal. (Stay tuned for that process). In the second photo we are painting the poplar core, so as the wood expands and contracts, the lighter color won't show through. It's feeling a little bit empty at the shop with out these giants hanging around!

Good to see the process. Do you tongue and groove the boards or just but joint?

We don't have a tongue and groove molder so we just do butt joints, but I do like the idea of doing tongue and groove if we had that as an option.
