Christian enlightenment: Keep on being obedient to the word, and not merely being hearers who deceive themselves. James 1:22

The Epistle of James is a unique spiritual letter, although its author is the apostle James, who presided over the Church of Jerusalem during the first council of the Church according to the Book of Acts, the subject of its recipients is not very clear, the epistle speaks of the twelve tribes of the dispersion, that is, of the Christians of Jewish origin outside the Holy Land. It is also not known with certainty when it was written and its historical context, as is the case with Paul's letters, which were always related to his three missionary journeys to the pagan world.
What is clear is that the author of the epistle was a profound connoisseur of the sapiential books of the Old Testament, and that was reflected in the exposition of the letter, which is not surprising because the sapiential influence is very marked in the teachings of Jesus such as the parable of the sower, the parable of the pearl of great price, or the hidden treasure. The teachings of Jesus are more related to the wisdom of Solomon than to the teachings of the law of Moses, in the christian faith, the separation of the worldly reality from the spiritual dimension of man comes from the ancient sages of Israel.
And James at the beginning of his epistle spoke of the path to spiritual enlightenment that every Christian must follow. And as Jesus taught, this path is the path of the word of God, listening to and living the word of God, that is, acquiring wisdom by retaining it and putting it into practice with constancy is what makes faith bear fruit. Or in other words, the word to save man and give true life, which is the eternal life, must be intimately linked to the gift of fear of God. And with these words, the apostle James described the importance of faith and the word for the true believers in the Kingdom of God: "With a gentle spirit welcome the word planted in you that can save your souls. Keep on being obedient to the word, and not merely being hearers who deceive themselves" James 1:21-22.
The apostle James ultimately taught about the coherence between what is thought, said, and done, because in this truth, consists the testimony of Christ.
