After Jesus called his first disciples and announced the beatitudes on the Sermon on the Mount, the gospel of Saint Matthew tells how the Kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of God's perfections, began to become evident to men through the miracles of Lord Jesus. For a humanity dominated by sin and concupiscence, the spiritual message of Jesus about the unconditional love, the love projected to the whole creation of God (Agape), represented a fundamental change, because the law limits itself to making sin known to men, and does not grant the grace to know the truth.
And so the gospel of Matthew relates that an ancient prophecy written by Isaiah was fulfilled with the extraordinary actions of Jesus towards the hopeless and the oppressed: "So God's promise came true, just as the prophet Isaiah had said, ´He healed our diseases and made us well.´" Matthew 8:17.
And among the most notable miracles of Jesus were the healing of a centurion's servant (Matthew 8:5-13), the resurrection of a girl (Matthew 9:18-26), and the deliverance of two men possessed by impure spirits in the region of Gadara (Matthew 8:28-34).
With these facts, not only did the ancient predictions about the arrival of a messiah begin to make sense, but also the promise made to King David, through the prophet Nathan, about the arrival of an eternal and indestructible Kingdom began to be built. Jesus came to change the world and save humanity despite the exepticism, and the hardness of hearts.
The word of the gospel is the testimony of a prophetic message, as it was announced since ancient times, destined to transform humanity, Jesus came into the world with his mercy (compassion, gentleness, kindness) to teach men the true face of God.
