Word Poetry Challenge #7: Memories

I
Yesterday a dark shadow loomed, I felt the fear of forgetting;
They turned to smoke before my eyes, they seemed beyond saving;
With eyes closed in desperation, I begged the details to get clearer;
Yesterday I pleaded with fading shadows, losing them was a true terror.

II
Today they seemed so close, I could conjure them so vividly;
I felt I could reach out and touch them, they seemed just a teardrop away;
All the details came back in full colors, jolted my senses like a raging train;
Today I remembered far too well, and feared I might never forget again.

This is an entry to @jassennessaj’s awesome initiative to showcase the beauty of poetry. May those who read it find it enjoyable, and may art always serve as our salvation. May our memories not dissipate to thin air and leave us, and may they not come crashing down on us and drown us. Au revoir!
