Well , according to the dictionaries..

-it means belonging to a thing by it's nature or naturally, synonym with "inherent", "inborn", even "fundamental"

-when used it anatomy, it means coming from or belonging to an organ, tissue, muscle or member, even situated or produced in an organ

Origin

The word comes from Middle French intrinsèque, from Latin intrinsecus, that means "on the inside, inwardly". First known use in English language was in 1635.
