WordPress 5.0 (codenamed Bebo) is officially out!

Wordpress powers 1/3 of the internet as latest stats 2019, an impressive feat and they've released version 5.0
Make no mistake, whatever updates are in this, this release is all about Gutenberg.

What is Gutenberg?

Automattic, the company behind wordpress has set out to create a new content editing website design experience, and they've done exactly that. Many consider it for the better, others not so much. Personally we like the DIVI editor so much more!

Much of the negative perception Gutenberg has been getting has been around earlier development builds, and well, should be forgiven given it was in beta. One of the best new features that we find useful is the collection of default embedding blocks that allow ease of embedding website designs from a variety of sources. The old editor had part of this functionality, but this new system gives a proper idea of what can and cannot be embed by default.

For those that don't want to use Gutenburg, Automattic are releasing a Classic Editor Plugin, as promised. Word is they'll be supporting it until 2021!
Given it has nearly a million active installations, I think support should continue for sometime.

On a final note, Twenty-Nineteen made it in. Not that we use it for our Website Design. We're fans of the beaver editor.
