I remember seeing that companies like SpaceX will make ships that shock the airline industries. I'm talking about like LA to China in 25 minutes, Chile to Russia in 24 minutes Etc.
If at that point we, as a planet, were capable of opening up cabotage laws to allow for pretty much open and fast transportation between countries, just imagine how good that would be for the economy, lifestyle, environment, and connectivity of the world. (Which already has its own global currency ;)).

There are two separate arguments at play here, both relating to the concept of cabotage .

Cabotage originally meant simply coasting trade, from the French caboter, to travel by the coast .
