****This quote resonates with me. After trying for promotion 3 times in 3 years, I believe determination is a key to success.**** 🤔

****Let's Begin****

So! You've been working at the same place for a while now, maybe a few years it doesn't matter. In that time you've become familiar with the way things run;😎

You know what is expected of you and your department, you've been through thick and thin and seen your work through to the end every time.

You've been a team player and helped out when other people needed it - you've come in on days off and learned to complete tasks totally alien to you and your job. 💪

You're the reliable one🤝 Always on time, always stable, always ready to tackle the day. Your coworkers love it when you clock in because they know how capable you are.🧐

You've put yourself on the line enough times and you've learned the business well beyond what expected, and now, you think it's time. 👊

You believe you're ready to take the next step.

You're ready to take on more responsibility, to step into a new space where your garnered skills can be leveraged and your experience utilized to benefit the business.

You see a position above you open up, you begin writing your resume and cover letter. You speak with you're peers and manager and prepare for an interview you don't even know if you're going to get.

You - one hundred percent secure in you'r ability to step into the role and start making real changes - submit your application.

****Two days later...****

We regret to inform you that at this time you have not been successful.

****Rejection💀 Devastating ambition crushing rejection.**** ☠

You see Tom get the job over you. Someone with half the talent, half the experience, half the work ethic succeeds where you fail.

****What are you to take from this?****

What's the point in being geat at a job if it does nothing to push you forward? Why strive for perfection in your craft if someone with a better smile and a tad more charisma can just steal the opportunity away from you?

  • Do you a) give up? ❎

  • Do you b) try to sabotage Tom?❎

  • Or... do you c) double down on your work, make yourself EVEN BETTER? ✔

A - is by far the easiest option. It is easy to capitulate in the face of incomprehensible. But this is to be avoided at all costs.
Complacency erodes progress, it stagnates talent and reduces you to stone.

B - Poses too great of a risk to all that you have built. If Tom is as bad as you think he is, he will not last. This is a tempting option that if successful, will taint your judgment and decision making from that moment on.

C - is the hardest, but the best strategy. Keep trying, never give up, never surrender. If you have a setback, use the time to prepare for your next attempt.

****Determination beats talent.
Determination beats charisma
Determination beats nepotism****

I got my first promotion after 3 attempts in as many years.

You can too.

Stay on target, stay the course, and be unrelenting!

See the goal, reach for it and seize it - even if you have to reach a few times

p.s - I got inspired to write this post after I saw a friend quit his job because he was denied a promotion. I wish him luck.
