Working on a local TV station- being a journalist and anchor in Croatia

Every childs dream is to be a famous star- model, Tv anchor, actor or a singer (dont lie, I know it was :P).

My almost came true.

Last three years I work on a local Zagreb TV station called Jabuka TV (former OTV).

I'm every day on TV, hosting my talk shows, and preparing news.
Some people think that this job is amazing, and easy, but although I love my job, sometimes its very hard.

I start working somewhere about 9PM, sometimes earlier if there is some events early in the morning.
I sit with my co-workers on coffee and we discuss about most important topics that day.
Then we distribute tasks and go on a field filmed storys. This is interesting part of my job because you meet interesting people every day and hear something new, but its hard if you go on a field on high or very low temperatures, but I dont complain because there are much harder jobs.

When I write my story we double check possibbile mistakes and then stroy is broadcast.

Sometimes people are not satisfied with a content of story, and if we can not agree we go to court.

In the evening I'm hosting one talk-show.
You have to find every day your guests, and sometimes they canceled just before the show, so you have to improvised. That's the most hardest thing to do.

All in all- this job is great- its dinamic, joyfull, not boring.

But, there is no free time- you have to be on your phone all the time, follow what happening any time of the day and be first on some events. Its very stressful to not having a free time and just turn off your phone.

Also, you are constantly exposed to political influence and you go into conflicts every day.

I'm trying to avoid political topics and I like to work, as I was wrote in my introduction post, whit national minorities in Croatia, so I have a TV show on this topic.

In conclusion, even though I work on a small TV station and some people think that this job is glamorous- this job is everything but not glamouros.

You are constantly attacked by other people, you have to write what you dont want to write and you dont have a time- and what is worst- don't think about starting a family.
