Once a week I go to a city nearby to drink a coffee with an old friend. We spend around an hour talking, drinking our coffee, finding out what's new in each other's life, and then we leave.
Sometimes, we need to do other things in the city, and we start walking from one place to another. While I walk, I like to look at other people and try to imagine where they go and what they are doing there. Sometimes I just try to find out things about people by observing how they dress, how they walk, their facial expressions, etc.
One thing that I often think about whenever I walk on a busy street is how many people spend most of their time being completely unproductive, watching TV, playing video games for 12 to 16 hours a day, shopping, going to parties and, overall, never working on something that lasts.
We know those people because we live with them. They're in the same city as us, they're in the same neighbourhood, sometimes even in the same house as us. And we can't do anything to make them be productive. They just refuse to think about the future, and so they waste their time because it's a lot better right now.
They are the people who don't read books, who don't work on anything outside their workplace, who don't really care about making progress and who just want to have fun.
You however, you're different. You work on your spare time. You create something instead of watching TV for 5 hours. You do something that will last, be it writing an article, working on a drawing, or coding something.
You're productive, and you care about your future and, what's more important, you should be proud of that. You may not feel like you move forward, or like you get anywhere with your work, but the simple fact that you DO something in your spare time except having fun and wasting your entire day is respectable.
Don't stop, and keep creating. Work on more things that will last. Write more articles. Draw more. Code more. Create apps. Edit videos. Upload content on as many websites as possible. Be proud of your work.
Truly good idea :-)
