How quickly things an change eh? Two weeks ago I had no job, a week yesterday I accepted an offer and a week later I've the first week out the way and can finally relax a little. Who would have thought that being in work would be more relaxing than not being in work? I certainly struggled with it and it wasn't just the financial pressures that come with being unemployed. Personally I felt I had no purpose which is odd keeping in mind I've spent much of my time keeping the house and doing school runs.
I have a 60 mile drive to and from the office so the days are pretty long by default but after 16 years driving to West London and Surrey it all actually feels very familiar and comforting. That familiarity feels especially great today as I've not been in this position for a few years now; that position being having a job which I know isn't coming to an end and allows me to, by default, return home most nights and sleep in my own bed. Also enjoying being in an environment where I wear a suit to work as dress at my previous employer was very casual which I felt was actually reflected in the quality of their output.
Ultimately this feels like another new chapter in my life and for the first time in a good few years a positive one. For the first time since my father passed away 12 years ago I love where I live and where I work - now I just need to start loving my hobbies and spare time again.
Good to hear you are settling in. Personally I'm not into dressing up too much for work. I could wear jeans and t-shirt to work, but I choose not to. I just don't go as far as a tie or suit. Have you found some podcasts to listen to on the drive? That could be something to post about. I have a few guitar ones I enjoy, but my commute time is pretty short these days

I find the suit helps separate home and work - plus I never get dressed up for anything else so it's nice to be a little different :) Smart jeans are allowed and a tie isn't compulsory. Officially it's 'smart casual' but I tend to air on the smarter side.
I've been loving 60 cycle hum recently but haven't listened to it on my way to work yet.

I can recommend No Guitar is Safe and Chasing Tone. I listen to various tech and science stuff too.
