Look, I know it is hard to transition from working somewhere to working from home. I get it. I tried #wfh in 2015 when I first resigned and I gained a lot of weight. I lost it when I went back to work in 2017 through Intermittent Fasting but I resigned again in January 2020 before this pandemic quarantine. So I get it. It is hard to transition and train yourself to be productive at home especially when you are not used to having your family around.
#WFH Tip No. 1 - Wear Indoor Sneakers
Yes. You read it right. Wear sneakers inside your house. It is something easy to do. And it saved me from going back to bed to “read my research” and then drifting to Netflix. Worried about viruses? Well, air it out or clean it up before using it or use a pair that you haven’t used for a long time. Just wear something that will make you move more.
When you move more, you do more. Well, I did because I have a standing desk. You don’t have one? Well, get some books or boxes and create one. And even if you don’t use a standing desk, wearing tennis shoes will make you move and accomplish more. Trust me, this simple act of wearing my sneakers helped me maintain my weight and accomplish more in my to-do lists. And it will help you too because simple acts, like putting on sneakers, will help you do the next thing you need to do.
If you want to know more how simple acts, like putting on your sneakers, will propel you to accomplish more, read Atomic Habits. This book helped me develop new habits one by one.
