Late work night

I grateful to have meaningful employment. It's too bad sometimes the necessity of having a job must interfere with the important things in life. Like tonight, stuck on a long assignment, I won't be able to properly hit the gym. I could do something quick, but once I'm in a routine, more and more folks start trickling in, and that messes it up for me. I'm a snob, I'll admit. I want the gym quiet, darkened, and lonely.

Bad enough we've got the open windows with the neighborhood weirdos wandering around all night long.

As it is, during the first of the month I hit some local superstores for some grocery tracking. It's something I've done now for two years (almost). I log the prices of certain staple items to see what's going for what, and attempt to gauge the inflation rate that way.

When I worked at Sam's Club, I checked with management to discover if there was a feature in our inventory system that tracked the price of an item. Not only was there not a feature, at least to us in the store, they were surprised anyone would ask about that. As it was, prices were relatively static, but something that did regularly increase, once or twice a year, was thr price of the Bag-in-a-Box, the syrup used to make carbonated drinks.

I think I'll post some of these prices eventually.
