What On Earth Is The WorkingAt Tag?

The WorkingAt Tag Gathers Momentum?

Those of you who regularly read my posts will know that occasionally I write a description and review of the place I'm working in, usually a cafe which often includes some cake. 😁

Well yesterday I had a couple of people ask me what the #workingat tag refers to.

Hmmm. Well it was just something I started to use one day and then thought it would be fun to continue to do so.

Yesterday @lloyddavis used it in his post that included a bit about working/not working on a train. He'd started writing similar posts and thought it would be a good fit.

Then, this morning @lynnecoyle1 asked me what the tag was all about so I thought it might be a good idea to write a post about it. So . . . ta da!, here is said post! 😁

Since it is MY tag and I OWN the copyright these are the rules:

The #workingat tag may be used when you find yourself working away from your normal place of work. So, for me, that's anywhere outside my home.

Hmmm. Well that's about it really. Not so much rules as one rule. And not even that, since I don't really own the copyright. Yep. I know. My generosity knows no bounds.

Feel free to tag me if you do use it so I can come visit and upvote your post! 😁

So, without further ado, let's finish up the story of Hixon Green's in Hove.

You may remember that this particular "office" started off rather well but went down hill fast when I discovered the wifi was a bit iffy and the vanilla and honeycomb cake was way too sweet.

Since the surrounds were so nice I said I'd give it another go and test out the breakfast. Well, that's what I did this morning.

I had the eggs Benedict which, I have to say, were delicious. I'll post the photographs tomorrow.

However, it still won't be too high on my list. Turns out you can't eat meals upstairs, which is where the big table is and, horror of horrors they only have white bread!!!! 😱

Working on a small round table whilst waiting for my breakfast was less than ideal.

Also, there was a bit of a fuss when the bloke on the next table wanted to order specific items for his breakfast, rather than the actual combination that was on the menu. The waitress got into a bit of a flap because she didn't know how she would put it through the till. despite the customer saying he'd be happy to pay the price of the Full English.

It gave the impression that it was all a bit much to ask for. Not really what you want as far as service is concerned.

Today's visit has also shown me that I actually prefer quirky to swish. The other customers were all a bit posh and not very typical of Brighton and Hove.

So . . . would I come here again?

Probably, but only in the afternoon for a coffee and a different piece of cake perhaps.

I suspect, the more I look around, the lower down my list of favourite "offices" Hixon Green will move.

HOW cool! Only problem for me is.. I never leave the house. I work from the third bedoom- which doubles as the office, storage for tools, my books, my wirting supplies and crafts. Kind of messy really!

I know what you mean @goldendawne. I tend to either work in my bedroom or in the attic which is where all my craft supplies are. However, it gets too cold there in winter and too hot in summer.

Also, getting out of the house means I get some exercise, otherwise I can sit in front of the computer all day and barely move!

On a really bad day I was finding I was only doing about 200 steps!!! 😱

Yeah so true! I do get my exercise daily when I stroll to the mailbox, work in the garden and that... I just am such a homebody and hate crowds.

I would imagine all the gardening you do would be more than enough to keep you fit and flexible @goldendawne!

Taking photographs for the various Steemit contests is how I mainly get some exercise now. It's literally changed my life! 😊

You're going to have to start disguising yourself as you go deeper into the tearoom world - or they'll see you coming a mile off and be on their best behaviour (and not their normal selves) when they catch onto you as the Harsh But Fair Reviewer.

A really dumb question I've been trying to figure out for the past 6 months. What happens when you tag someone? How do you know if you've been tagged??

That's a really good question @sukhaanasister. I used them to let someone know I've responded to their comment or post. But I'm not sure where, if anyway, that helps on Steemit itself.

But where it does help is on GINA bot which you can set up on Discord to tell you whenever someones tags (mentions) you, or leaves a comment or posts a blog and lots of other things.

GINA will make you Steemit life 100 times easier. I can't remember how I set it up now as it was back close to when I joined but if you do a search for GINA I'm sure you'll find lots of posts about how to do it. Lots of people can't live without it. Me included! 😂

What a last minute tip! Looking into it!

You won't be sorry @sukhasanasister! 😁

Very tasty workplace, heh. But I probably could not work in such a place surrounded by this yummy. I would probably be distracted by the sight of these cakes, buns and pies :)

There's quite a simple solution to that @madlenfox. Don't sit near them! 😂

Hixen Green is a little too reminiscent of Hoylent Green ...

What is Hoylent Green @shanibeer?

Just looked it up - I meant Soylent Green. It's a sci-fi film with Charlton Heston, starts out as a police investigation into a murder and ends up as something much more murky in a post-apolyptic New York. Long way from Hove and Brighton, I grant you 😂

Ah. I see @shanibeer. It's amazing what you can learn on Steemit! 😁
