Making money has always been the ultimate goal for business owners/companies. But has anyone really care about giving more back to the society? Yes, there are but not as many as you thought or as committed as you think they would be partly due to certain challenges they had to go through.
My bosses always say, "To create a bigger impact, everyone should work together." And I agree with that because it is true that with only one person/institution strength alone, the impact we wanted to create will never be as great as what we expected or foresee. It is almost the same as "having multiple brains is better than one brain when it comes to solving a certain problem." Just like having “TeamMalaysia” in our Steemit world.
Setting Context of CSR Work to Gauge Commitment & Resources
With the emerging trend of incorporating CSR concept into businesses, people are now focusing more on what they can do for the society and the environment that they lived in. It is a good sign of improvement because more people are paying attention to those who have been crying out loud for support. But wait a minute, always ask this question, “are we doing this to create a long-lasting impact or is it just a one-off thing?” This question is extremely important because this is where you or your company will start gauging the level of commitment and resources you would require to support the cause.
- Always choose a cause which you or your company can relate the most. It can be something where you can utilize your expertise in as well.
- Start listing down the pros and cons of the event that you are planning to do and start asking yourself: Long-lasting or touch-and-go? Which will be more important? PR part or supporting the cause part?
- Start projecting/forecasting the amount of resources required (money, manpower, etc)
- Always collaborate with other organizations/companies with similar values
- Always engage your own team members in the company to participate
It’s easy, isn’t it? The points above are all very simple but yet not everyone can make it. Can you make it happen and be the champion of a certain cause?
Drop me an email at [email protected] and share with me on the type of charity work you do. We never know when we might cross each other’s path, might as well do it now. =)
