Butt workout

I cannot lie…There is a good reason for “big butts.”

The Buttocks:

We all know, the buttocks area is rather dominant in women. This is because of the fat that is contained by the gluteal fold.

Besides its role as an energy reserve, this concentration protects the anal area and helps make the sitting position more comfortable by cushioning the direct contact between the bones and the supporting surface.

(The gluteal fold is made up of fibrous tracts that connect the deep surface of the skin in the gluteal area to the “ischium.” It’s to contain the fat in a pocket, which prevents it from falling down and hitting the back of the thigh while at the same time increasing the volume of the buttocks.)

Lower Back:
This fat merges with the upper buttocks so that the buttocks is raised in height. This helps further support of the buttocks.

Thighs:
Very common in women, fat in this area has an aesthetic role. It fills the space between the two thighs. Usually more noticeable in women rather than in men.

Pubis:
Right above the penis/vagina, this area stores more fat to protect the pubis from blunt force trauma. This is often referred to as “lower belly fat.”

Knees/Ankles:
In women, the knee and ankles are often a location of fat buildup. This is to protect the joints and is greater in women because they need the extra protection while pregnant.

Breasts:
The breast is made of fat surrounding the “mammary glands,” being held together by connective tissues resting on top the pectoralis major. Women have extra fatty tissue built up here for breastfeeding and carrying more milk.

Upper Arms:
Specially developed for women, this area holds more fat because it protects the nerves and arteries.
