Second last job waiting to go out the door - workshop

in workshop •  6 years ago  (edited)

I finished these planters last week and forgot to post about them.
They are made from wood and fibreglass and we're a pain to make. Fibreglass is a great material but horrible to work with. In the end I was happy how they worked out and will hopefully never have to make their kind again.
I wanted to be adventurous and make the ends curve round with no sharp edges similar to what the client already has in place. I did it but at great cost of time and materials.
Tomorrow I will install them on the roof of a large office block and hopefully they will last because of all my misplaced love and care for my work over my own health and finances.
They better be happy with them.

Cool. I admire people who can create things in a workshop like this. The planters look modern and sleek from the photo. I am sure they will get positive feedback!

Thank you, I always like the challenge of making new things but these were a pain in the neck to do. Now they say they want 5 more.!

It's always that way. When you show you are capable of making something amazing, people will want more :/

Next step... 3d print the same... probably cheaper, I reckon. But most of the art is gone by then...

That sir, is a great idea. Now I just have to build a big enough 3d printer. it would certainly be less work , It might be more expensive materials wise but I really think you are on to something...

Fibreglass is hell to work with, for sure. They had better be happy!

Spending hot summer days in a gas mask was not very pleasant. There has to be a easier way.

There isn't :(
