Workwear Trends 2022

Although Kanye West and Julia Fox both wore workwear during New York Fashion Week, they are not the ones who started this trend. A generation's desire for gender fluidity, body positivity, authenticity, and more sustainable design is bringing workwear back.

The most popular items in fashion right now are denim or canvas overalls, with pockets and other practical features.

In the thick of the epidemic, workwear reappeared in the United States a few months ago, before spreading like wildfire to the rest of the world, if not the rest of the world, then certainly Europe.

The workplace aesthetic has already been embraced by celebrities such as Kaia Gerber and Sydney Sweeney. As an auto mechanic, she often exchanges her beautiful outfits for coveralls.

In response, Generation Z and Millennials increasingly adopt workwear standards that are both emblematic of the American labour movement and reflect several significant trends.

On TikTok, #workwearstyle has attracted over 45 million views and over 150 million views for the hashtag #workwear.

Moreover, workwear is an incredibly coveted and sought-after fashion item, especially for Generation Z.

Whether it is a boiler suit or overalls, workwear can adapt to a variety of body types and sizes. The cherry on top is that these garments are often marketed as authentic and long-lasting, simply because of the high-quality and durable nature of the materials used.

Several long-forgotten companies have made a resurgence, including Dickies and Carhartt, both century-old companies.

Their identity relies heavily on their workwear. Combined with more traditional looks or even streetwear-inspired looks, workwear might soon become the year's top trend.

It's easy to overlook 2022's biggest fashion trends, seen on the runways in September. This is because you have warm spring days that turn into winter at night and live in sweatpants 24/7. The 2022 fashion puzzle includes soft clothes, which are comfortable for you. However, they aren't the only items on offer.

It's all about nostalgia. The remainder of the year looks to be jam-packed with fun trends for the next re-emergence wave, as Y2K fashion peaks higher than ever. Bright colors, bold prints, and bold silhouettes are taking over the runways, from bubble dresses to volume tops to cut-outs galore to ultra-low rises in pants and skirts. Accessories aren't left out either. The look includes chunky platforms, rainbow-colored bags, and rhinestone-studded rings with a more-is-more aesthetic. You better make purple your official signature color if your New Year's resolution is to come up with a stylish colour scheme - it's the 2022 hue in all shades, from Pantone's Very Peri to saturated purples and lavenders.
