Why does Denmark have two national anthems ?

in world •  3 years ago

A country often chooses a song that best represents the country and nation as its national anthem. However, Denmark, a Nordic country known as the "kingdom of fairy tales", is an exception, with two statutory national anthems-"King Christian" and "A Good Place".

Moreover, the styles of the two Danish national anthems are completely different. The tune of "There is a Good Place" is soft, and the lyrics also reflect the sentiment like a "fairy tale kingdom";

But the tune of "King Christian" is high-spirited and uplifting, and the lyrics seem to show the brave scenes of Viking pirate battles.

There are still many countries with royal families in the world, but why did Denmark choose to have two national anthems?
