FIFA's Head of Sustainability and Diversity Federico Addiechi, has urged broadcasters to show less beautiful women in the stands to tackle sexism in football.
This won't tackle sexism in football, these women whom the cameras focus on, can't help the fact that they're physically attractive. Would Federico Addiechi be crying sexism if the cameras were focused on muscle bound hunks?
Also, what would Mr Addiechi's solution be instead of having the focus on physically attractive women...women who look like Jubba the Hut stunt doubles?! Get the fuck out here!
FIFA want to get a more respectful image of women attending games as issues of sexual harassment during the World Cup were raised at FIFA media briefing on Wednesday. But how much sexual harassment actually took place FIFA? The women in question are physically attractive, don't get me wrong but as a football fan myself if I would to go to the World Cup for one reason and one reason only...to support my national football team!
FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe) network which works in close cooperation with FIFA and monitors fans behavior at World Cup games said it documented more than 30 cases of women being “accosted in the streets” during the month-long tournament in Russia. Ok FARE, where are the police reports from the Russian police?
Addiechi said that FIFA will ask national broadcasters to stop zooming in on attractive women in stadiums to prevent potential 'sexist' incidents. And can we stop using the word 'sexist' here. What Mr Addiechi is referring to here exactly is sexual assault in the content where the woman is the victim.
While racism was named Russia’s most problematic issue before the World Cup, no discriminative cases have been reported so far, said Piara Powar FARE executive director who praised the hosts of the tournament for giving a warm welcome to international guests.
