Days of Mourning - Asia

in world •  6 years ago

These two weeks, Asia has went through a series of tragedies that left me feeling drained whenever I read the news. Last week there was an earthquake in Lombok, Indonesia, a place where many tourists goes to for its beautiful beaches. Two of my friends happenned to be there at that time and thankfully they are alright and came back to the Java island as soon as they can. However, yeterday another earthquake happen and witrh a higher scale. It reached 7.0 on the scale and as of this moment there are around 90 casualties.

NTB is not an island that far away from where I lived and it hurts me to see this tragedy happening. The fact that 'earthquake' drills are not practised in my country is very concerning as well since it is a country that is visited by earthquakes and tsunami. Never had I once had an earthquake or fire drill during my school years here which was different when I was in Singapore. I really hope that the government will educate people more about it to prevent loses in the future.

The other thing happenned is the Bangladesh student protest. I actually knew of this news through twitter as no international news wrote about this. The scary thing is that the Bangladesh government block all social media and cut off internet access so that the news will not reach international media. This is honestly a disgusting and horryfying move.

It was a peaceful student protest where the students just wanted a better traffic law but the response wa really heartwrenching. The government send out their 'gangsters' o beat up those students and as of now 4 female were raped, 4 male dead and there are some who got their eyes clawed out.

In a world where we elect and pay the governbment to proptect us, it is really a huge betrayal they they are doing this. Of course, every country has their fair share of corrupt governments but to actually summon hooligans to beat up innocent underage students is just sometyhing I had a hard time wrapping my mind around.

For this issue I will not put out pictures as the one I saw are still giving me shrills down the spine.

Two big unfortunate events in one week, one caused by natural disaster and one by a human's cruel heart. I had so much thought on this and felt deeply for everyone influenced by it.

Please send your prayers for them, and if you are fortunate enough, please take the time to donate to them as well. Let this be a time for people to dig back their humanity, being geberous and not think for themselves.

Such a notice!

Such a very sad news. Why is this happening?!

Sad to hear about natural disaster. :(

Losts of people's lives ang homes caused by disaster are very sad and we should sympathetic with their families. But losts of young lives due to incredible violence is driving me furious. The government should be punished by international organisations,it's their big shame.
