ABOUT WORLD OCEANS DAY
Did you know that 44% of the world's population lives within 150 kilometers of the ocean? That is over 3 billion people in 148 countries around the world. Even those who do not live near the ocean play a critical role in the health and well-being of this truly global resource.
To mark the importance of the oceans and the resources they provide, the United Nations General Assembly has recognized June 8 each year as “World Oceans Day.” The goal of the day is to encourage everyone to learn more about the oceans, take an active role in protecting the world's oceans, and celebrate the many ways the oceans support us all.
This June 8, be sure to “wear blue and tell two.” Wear blue to show your support for protecting the world's oceans, and tell two of your family or friends to join you in celebrating World Oceans Day.
Finally, be sure to share your celebration with this high quality T-shirt
