in world •  7 years ago

Uluru rises 348m above the plains of the Australian outback. The circumference of the base of this iconic sandstone rock formation measures 9.4km. Uluru is a sacred place to Anangu, the traditional aboriginal owners of the land. Archaeological findings in the area indicate that land around Uluru, which also features beautiful waterholes, natural springs, and ancient rock paintings, has been inhabited for at least 10,000 years.

Visitors to Uluru have the chance to spot a large number of native Australian animals. Among the native animals, there are 21 species of mammal, including the bilby & the wallaby, and 73 species of reptile, and 178 species of bird. Other introduced species that can be spotted include camels, and foxes.
