The Statue of Unity is a colossal statue located in the state of Gujarat, India. It is a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, one of India's founding fathers and the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of independent India. The statue stands at a height of about 182 meters (597 feet) and is situated on the Sadhu Bet island near the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada River.
The construction of the Statue of Unity began in October 2013, and it was inaugurated on October 31, 2018, which also marked the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. The statue was designed by Indian sculptor Ram V. Sutar and is made of bronze. It has become a significant tourist attraction, drawing visitors from all over the world to witness this iconic symbol of unity and the legacy of Sardar Patel in India's history.
