The Unseen Intruder

It was a dark and stormy night, and Sarah was alone in her small apartment. She had just finished watching a scary movie, and the sound of the rain tapping against the window was making her nervous.

Suddenly, she heard a creaking sound coming from the hallway. She froze, listening intently. The sound continued, and she realized that someone was in her apartment.

She tiptoed to the door and peeked through the peephole, but she saw nothing. Her heart was pounding, and she felt a cold sweat on her forehead. She slowly turned the doorknob, ready to bolt out of the apartment if necessary.

As she opened the door, she saw a shadow move across the hallway. She screamed and ran towards the front door, but it wouldn't budge. She was trapped.

She turned around and saw the shadowy figure advancing towards her. She tried to scream, but no sound came out. She closed her eyes, waiting for the worst.

Suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She screamed and opened her eyes, but it was only her roommate, who had come home late from work.

"Sarah, what's wrong?" her roommate asked, concerned.

Sarah breathed a sigh of relief and explained what had happened. Her roommate laughed and shook her head.

"It was just me, Sarah. I thought you knew I was coming home late tonight. Sorry to scare you!"

Sarah laughed, feeling silly for getting so scared. She realized that sometimes, our fears can create imaginary intruders that aren't really there.

As they sat on the couch, watching the rain outside, Sarah felt grateful for her roommate's presence. She knew that even on dark and stormy nights, she was never truly alone.
