Yes, Stephen Hawking and other scientists have warned against the dangers that the LHC may pose. But the statement "....will open gates of hell......inter dimensional beings...." was not said by Stephen Hawking, it was said by Stephen Quayle (different person). You might have remembered incorrectly. No worries :)
