Size matters

It turns out that size matters, in the end. At least when talking about vehicles.

When I first started dreaming about living on wheels, a friend recommended a motorhome instead of a camperized van. His plead was the greater room and cheaper second hand price.

He is right, but in my dream I am a lone woman living full time into a vehicle, and some of the places where I want to stay do not have camping areas an aren’t motorhome friendly. In my case being the least noticeable is a more than welcome virtue, so a van it is.

Medium sized vans have lots of advantages. You can get everywhere with them, such as the old town of most cities, get into underground, supermarket or mall parkings, park almost anywhere, cheaper ferry tickets, etc.

It looked like I would go for one of these until I started listing what I wanted to fit in my camper. I will give you the full list on my next post, but as a summary I will need the space of a big van. At least!

I am thinking about an L3H2 at the moment. With direct access from living space to driving compartment, so I can wake up and move away directly if I find myself in a tight spot or get spooked.

It may be too big, you say? Too small? Well, do you know what? Let’s do the math step by step.

Next post will be the lists of what I definitely want to include in my van, what I would like but can pass without and what I don’t want in it at all. I will build up from that.

Any suggestions? What would you include in yours?

Some very interesting insights as to how to choose a vehicle to live in. Thanks for sharing.
I'm fascinated by origami, although I don't practice it. The folding is used a lot in space missions to save space in the rockets and then spread satellites. Are you thinking about this for your motor home.

Jajajajaja Well, never thought about it. It would certainly be useful. Sort of a little "smart" sized car that you can unfold and get a full lorry sized motor home with chimney and a second floor... I'll have to think about it! Goood idea!

I would go for the L3H2 !!!! I think this is the most practical in your case! It´s the right size to access most places. Campervans are too large.
I like your diary popups! May be you should post some more of those also !! ;-)

Thanks!
I am in a popup mood lately... Probably more to come until the fever passes and I start playing with other things.
About size... we'll see what I "want for sure" and how much space I need to fit it all in... still turning my head every time I see a Seur van arround... You know wich ones? those HUGE with plenty of room inside jeje

Hi @aguaviva I almost missed this post, you used only hte tag but you need to go to the link it is a community page and post from there then you are visible.

Nevertheless, reading your post, I would choose Motor-home, of course it is sizeable but it is also very comfortable. You will have a feeling of home. My sister-in-law have such motor-home for holidays and really enjoy it. Would be good to learn what you have decided :)

Thanks!
Still thinking about it, but dreaming with a van-based space at the moment. Some places are not motor home friendly. We will see...
Thanks for the coment about the community page. I will try to post right now.
