Very high flood risk at Taunsa in River Indus: NDMA

In the next 24 hours, there will be a very high level of flood in the Indus River at Taunsa, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert.

NDMA says that a train of 725,000 cusecs is passing at Chachadan Sharif near Khanpur, hundreds of villages along the river, crops standing on a wide area have been submerged and many houses have collapsed.

Due to the risk of more villages being affected, the administration has announced the evacuation of settlements and villages.

Meanwhile, many low-lying areas in Leh have been submerged in water, water has also entered 77 schools and 11 health centers, while the water level at Kotri Barrage is also continuously increasing.
