Jesus is the living water: Believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. John 4:21

At the beginning of the gospel of John, and after his encounter with the Pharisee Nicodemus, Jesus appeared before a Samarian woman who was drawing water from a well as the source of the true living water. In a metaphorical sense, when Jesus referred to the water of life, he was referring to the contemplative life, that is, to the gift of eternal life.
According to Aristotle, contemplation is the most excellent virtue and the reward of pure souls that perceive the truth itself with their intellect.
When Jesus presented himself before the Samaritan woman as the personification of that fountain from which men must drink to quench the thirst of God, he made it clear that he is that door (John 10:7), that light (John 8:12) and that path (John 14:6) that must be accepted to receive the grace of salvation.
In this way, Lord Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman about the arrival of the Kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of God's perfections, among men, a time when men would recognize God through the grace from above and not through appearances or external cults:
"´Sir´, the woman said, ´I can see that you are a prophet. Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.´
´Woman´, Jesus replied, ´believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.´", John 4:19-24.
