Spiritual worship: You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you

Thomas Aquinas father of the scholastic philosophy teaches us that the knowledge of God is self-evident: "The knowledge that God exists is imprinted on everyone by nature" Question 2 Article 1. The inner search for the beatitude, that is, the fullness of spiritual goods in man, naturally pushes us towards this supreme truth.
This is why the Sacred Scriptures in the Psalm 63, tell us about the longing for God. This psalm is an antecedent to many teaching in the new testament. Jesus in the gospels symbolizes this deep search for God with the water and the bread of life that our soul needs to be truly happy and blessed.
King David, a man gifted by the spirit and to whom the authorship of the majority of the psalms is attributed, teaches us that true spirituality begins with that thirst for God that is the spiritual gift of fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion):
"You, God, are my God
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water" Psalm 63:1.
And this thirst for God, leads us by grace, to that eternal and perfect love (Agape) that is a gift, only those who receive this love, the love projected to the whole creation of God, can worship the Lord in its true sense:
"I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands" Psalm 63:2-4.
God is that hidden treasure that we have to find, because in God there is that supreme happiness that fills our soul, just as the stomach is filled with delicious delicacies, the hymn to God tells us:
"I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you" Psalm 63:5.
Also when we know God through his love, there are all the answers and spiritual guidance:
"Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings" Psalm 63:7.
The main idea of this psalm is to teach that in the search for God is the true meaning of human life.
