Worship the Lord: He will give you rest from all your enemies around you so that you will live in safety

After the promulgation of the decalogue, the book of Deuteronomy explains some rules about the worship of God and especially establishes a single sanctuary dedicated to the glory and adoration of the Lord, which later would be edified in the holy city of Jerusalem, after the establishment of the capital of the kingdom and the finalization of the conquest of the promised land, by King David: "But you are to seek the place the LORD your God will choose from among all your tribes to put his Name there for his dwelling. To that place you must go" Deuteronomy 12:5.
The book of Deuteronomy shows us the importance of the idea of one nation (Israel), one law, and one temple. And this is important because this teaching contrasts with the pagan practices of the Canaanites, who worshiped their Gods on high mountains, sacred posts, and leafy trees. In the context of the law of Moses, the heresies of the pagans, that is, the practice of error by the worship of false Gods, was a serious sin.
In addition, the establishment of the unity of one sacred place, implied important consequences in the history of the people of Israel, that would even reach the birth of Jesus, with the construction of the first and second temples in Jerusalem.
And the book of Deuteronomy with the uniqueness of the place of worship, teaches us something else, the retribution for the correct worship of the Lord is to "inherit the earth", that is, to receive the "secure life", this in the Christian faith will become an important beatitude in the Sermon on the Mount, the spiritual gift of the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion) is the basis of all the blessings of the Lord:
"But you will cross the Jordan and settle in the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and he will give you rest from all your enemies around you so that you will live in safety. Then to the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name—there you are bring everything I command you" Deuteronomy 12:10-11.
