Spiritual thought: Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word

The true goods in man are the spiritual goods such as immortality (spiritual gift of longevity), wisdom, peace, mercy (kindness, compassion, gentleness). Material goods such as wealth, honor, power, and fame must be built on the spiritual goods and not the other way around. That is why the Bible explains to us in the book of Psalms: "Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word", Psalm 119:37.
If we look for material goods without paying attention to the spiritual, what is going to happen is that in a situation of difficulty, everything can easily fall apart, greed and fear, the motivators of man according to the flesh, are very bad advisers.
Knowing how to make decisions is essential: "The wise have eyes in their heads, while the fool walks in the darkness", Ecclesiastes 2:14.
The decisions that keep us safe in difficult situations have two characteristics: first, they are the precise and the exact; second, they are progressive, they tend to improve and increase. And these decisions are the decisions made wisely. Can we make a decision that fits in and makes sense when we are overwhelmed by fear or by other passions? Let us remember that men are slaves of what dominates them. Can we make the best decisions when greed for money dominates us?: "How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!," Proverbs 16:16.
Plato in his books always affirms that philosophical activity consists in the search for immaterial truths, man as such cannot be built on lies and appearances but on what is correct.
The behaviors of men are ordered, some to punishments, others to blessing, the sensible man knows how to choose the right path of life: "Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law", Psalm 119:29.
